Snapshot Symphony’s Alexis recently caught up with My Girl Friday vocalist Justin Godsey when he was in Houston, Texas recently with The Summer Set to talk about Twitter, porn star names and more!
My Girl Friday are an awesome upcoming band from Arizona, who have just released a brand new track, American Kids. The Phoenix five-piece have released 3 EPs, with a full length expected in the near future. Check out our Justin Godsey interview below, as well as the track ‘American Kids’!
SSP: Hey Justin, let’s start this with an easy one - what are your main influences?
Justin: Music in general. I don’t really like to narrow it down to something particular.
SSP: What’s it been like touring with The Summer Set? You and Brian Dales are bros right?
Justin: It’s been fun. We’ve had some pretty crazy nights, and yeah he’s a bro so it’s been fun to get to hang out with him and everyone else.
SSP: You have a lot of followers on Twitter and have witty and fun tweets, do you see yourself as a voice of this generation seeing as how a majority of younger people rely on social networking to express themselves?
Justin: Some tweets I do try to be serious with and hope people will relate to or see another view on something.
SSP: You released the single “American Kids” a few weeks ago, how has the fan reaction been to that song?
Justin: It’s been good. We’ve never actually released a “single” before and this has been the best response we could hope for.
SSP: You haven’t released a full album in over a year, there are plans for an album out soon though, right?
Justin: Yes, we’ve completed the album and it will be out before the end of the year.
